Summer Tires

Summer tires are designed to adapt well to the warm pavement during the spring and summer months. Summer tire treads are less aggressive than treads on winter tires which provides you a smoother ride. The treads on summer tires are also designed to get better traction on rain-soaked roads.

Questions and Answers

Question: When should I change my winter tires to summer tires?
Answer: It depends on the tire. When temperatures are constantly 4 degrees and above, it is probably time to take off your ice tires. When it hits 7 degrees and above, your regular snow tires should come off. This will help with tire longevity.

Question: Do you need summer tires?
Answer: You don’t necessarily need summer tires because you can use all-season tires in the summer. Winter tires will be louder on dry roads and will wear fast, so you should not drive on them year-round. Summer tires usually have a performance advantage on dry roads over winter and all-season tires.
